- How to pick the Right Mate! (part1)
Proverbs 18:22 – (NIV) He who finds a wife finds what
is good and receives favor from the LORD
As a seasoned soul winner who understands the concept of building the kingdom here on earth, finding a mate of the opposite sex is a critical part of our lives.
Our Father in heaven created us to remain dependent upon Him. Therefore, there is a biological deficiency that causes us to NEED love, to NEED to be loved, and to NEED to show love towards others. That’s why we have “friends,” get married, make babies, and wake up every morning wanting someone to tell us “I LOVE YOU!”
God created us in His image and likeness. Therefore, we have to begin with the end result in mind. This will cause us to change our way of thinking. For instance, when you first meet someone, they will NEVER tell you everything about themselves. They will only tell you what they want you to know. It is safe to say that you are only meeting their representative during the first initial meetings! Afterwards, if you continue to spend time together, then you can start to peel off some of the layers of their personality.
Upon first meeting a person of interest, it is important to explain to them that you are looking for a spouse (i.e. Husband/Wife). This will act as a filtering system. This statement alone weeds out the players, con artists, fakes, and phonies. Once you have found a person of interest, do not get overly excited because of how they look, act, or speak. Get to know more about them through telephone conversations and through others who know this person. Secondly, do not allow bitterness from a previous relationship or marriage to infect your new potential relationship. Finally, DO NOT give in to sexual intercourse. It destroys the authenticity of the process where God would have revealed EVERYTHING you wanted to know about the other person. If the sex barriers are crossed, then pick yourself up….get married or stop giving in! If this is a challenge for you, then simply read I Corinthians 10:13 to see the way of escape that God will provide for you. This teaching is the first step in how to choose a mate. If you follow these simple steps, God will guide you to the person of your dreams. Remember: God can do exceedingly and abundantly above anything we could ever ask or think!
There are three requirements to verify within you BEFORE looking for a mate:
1. Have a personal relationship and prayer life with God
2. Learn how to exist and be happy by yourself
3. Create a list of characteristics that you desire for your mate and ask God to deliver that person to you (this list will change with your age-LOL)

Father, Give me the proper spirit of discernment to deal with people. Bless me
to be on one accord with Holy Spirit that I may continue to make righteous
decisions. Lead to me out of emotional thoughts that cause irrational behavior.
